As a 501c3, The Lotus Herd is entirely dependent on donations as we have made the decision not to charge for visits.
In a post Covid era, many people are financially struggling and the need for a place to heal has never been higher, it is our hope that we can welcome anyone in need regardless of their situation.
That said, we are in need of donations as we have been hit hard by Covid, rampant inflation, and the increased hay prices which have more than doubled in the past 4 years. This is due to drought, increased fuel costs, and increased fertilizer costs. As a point of reference, one bale of quality hay costs $35 and a ton of hay is now way over $400.
Your generosity goes directly to help the animals, from feed to farrier, vet care to medication. Any amount helps us keep our horses to the best of their physical ability, if they are healthy and happy they can offer more to our visitors.
One bale of hay feeds all our minis for two days.
Two bales of hay feed all our horses for one day.
It costs $60 for each mini to get their hooves trimmed every 7 weeks.
It costs $65 for each horse to get their hooves trimmed every 7 weeks.
We have 2 horses needing front shoes which costs $160 every 7 weeks.
Having these needs met means our horses will be thriving and as a result, reducing vet visits and allowing them to be more present with our visitors.
