Our Mission

Bringing joy and healing through the human - animal interaction & connection.

We are a recognized 501(c)3 non profit organization committed to bring all our rescue horses to the best of their mental, emotional and physical abilities so they can bring joy and healing to people in need.

We believe that connection is essential.

Due to our human nature, our mind is constantly bombarded with a flow of thoughts, not necessarily of the positive kind, which is both exhausting and alienating. Sharing space with animals tends to slow down this flow which allows for a more peaceful state to arise. We can be grounded in this present moment in their company. We live in a world where we are overly busy, often stressed, always doing versus being. I believe it is important to slow down, what better way to do it but spending time with peaceful beings with no agendas. Horses have much to teach us, their primary message is often “Slow down.”

Sharing space with horses is a gift. The more peaceful the horse, the more they are able to give through their presence, and this goes both ways.

We believe that horses are not disposable.

We teach our volunteers and visitors about the reality of horse slaughtering. Five of our horses were rescued from a feedlot in Colorado at a young age, waiting for a trailer to take them to get slaughtered in Mexico. Four of our minis were adopted from SoCal Mini Horse Sanctuary in Southern California, prior to this they were in auctions in Mississippi, some of them in extremely poor condition. Although we have rescued horses, none of them are for adoption as we are a sanctuary and they are now an established herd.

We believe that sustainability is key.

From manure composting to organic weed control, we do our best to incorporate sustainable practices into the management of our beautiful grounds.

We have a 24 feet long O2 composting system that was built in 2019, it uses water and air being blown by a compressor through pipes that run underneath to accelerate the composting process. This allows us to organically fertilise all the pastures and plants on the ranch all year long. By harrowing the pasture and reseeding it twice a year we are able to control the weeds without having to spray, creating a better environment for the horses and the bees! We do take great care of the land and have seen a great increase in bee activity over the years.

We are committed to our horses’ mental & physical well-being.

Living in a herd  means they develop friendships and get affection from each other, it does not go without the occasional squabble but it allows them to live as nature intended them to. This makes for calmer, more balanced and peaceful horses.

You will quite often see them grooming each other, sometimes playing and mostly enjoying each other’s presence and company. The horses have daily access to grazing in the pasture where they can freely run. We use slow feeders to allow them to eat for extended periods of time, reducing any risk of colic by offering a more natural rhythm of eating. We get each horse out and work with them at least 4 days a week to ensure that they enjoy human interactions and get exercise. The minis also get training outside the facility. We are using Chris Irwin’s principles of horse body language and we teach it to our volunteers, this makes for harmonious human and horse interactions.
